Maersk separates Finland inland charges: compare the complete quotation

A newly published carrier notice can describe a change with an earlier effective date. Today’s briefing examines Maersk’s October 28 Finland inland-haulage announcement and the quotation questions it raises for buyers sourcing in China.

1. Publication date and stated effective date are different

In a notice dated October 28, 2026, Maersk states that Arex and port dues are no longer included in its Finland import and export inland-haulage rates, effective October 1, 2026. The notice says those charges will instead appear as “Subject to” in the terms and conditions.

Maersk says new quotations, tenders and updated rates follow that structure from the stated effective date. This is a report of the October 28 announcement; it does not establish how an earlier accepted quotation or a specific invoice will be treated. Obtain that clarification from the provider.

2. Buyer analysis: request the missing cost lines

For a shipment from China with a Finland inland leg, ask whether the quotation uses this carrier service and rate structure. Request the applicable Arex and port-dues amounts, charging unit, currency and collection party, plus confirmation of whether they are included elsewhere. The notice does not supply those amounts.

Keep the quoted inland transport rate, excluded items and confirmed overall total in separate fields. A lower displayed base rate is not evidence of a lower complete delivery cost. If a line is still awaiting confirmation, mark it as an open cost item rather than zero.

3. Reconcile versions without assuming retroactive liability

Retain the date and version of the original quote, its validity, acceptance record and relevant booking reference. Ask which version governs the shipment and how the provider proposes to handle excluded items. Do not infer from the announcement alone that an already agreed charge must be refunded or that a new amount is automatically payable.

Illustrative example: a buyer compares two Finland delivery quotations. One bundles local items into the transport price; the other lists a lower transport price with additional charges to be confirmed. The buyer requests the missing amounts and compares totals on the same service scope before choosing an offer.

4. Keep this change separate from fuel-surcharge checks

This notice concerns what is included in the inland-haulage rate. Keep it distinct from yesterday’s briefing on the carrier’s Nordic and Baltic fuel/energy surcharge. Ask the provider to itemize each applicable charge and explain its calculation base so the same cost is not counted twice.

MORENICE can help coordinate supplier readiness and shipment records from China. For destination delivery, obtain the responsible provider’s written confirmation of the complete service scope, exclusions and price before updating the order budget. This briefing does not quote a shipment-specific rate.
